SATURDAY 13th AUG 05
finally caught the movie wif dear dear today... was so excited that i went to Bishan to get the tickets yesterday!!! cox i knew if we were to go down Marina only todae, we would not be able to get good seats.. hehe... managed to use my UOB Uni$ to redeem.. so the show's FOC.. hehe..
before the show was a nice meal @ Carl's Jr... their burgers are HUMONGOUS... hehe.. but YUMMILICIOUS also! quite a nice place, with free flow of Iced lemon tea.. and chilli sauce and pepper... heheh... den dear and i went to walk walk.. saw digi cams too.. still thinking which one to buy.. either Canon again.. or Pentax.. hmm...
CCF (Charlie and Choco Factory) did not fail to surprise and wow me with the massiveness of the film.. lots of $$ must haven been pumped in to create the 'chocolate waterfall' and the 'dragon boat look-alike' thingie etc... very educational i would say.. teaching kids and even adults not to be selfish, arrogant, demanding etc.. but instead lead a humble life, appreciate simplicty and most importantly, treasure your family and loved ones.. profound meaning behind a simple movie... however, there were some parts which were v lame as well.. the singing by the workers.. hehehe... but the squirrels shelling the walnuts scene was the cutest man... awwwwww.....
after the show, dear and i went to the esplanade for a walk, and we ended up feasting on chilli crabs @ No Signboard Restaurant while listening to some really nice songs...oh ya! we also managed to catch a glimpse of the fireworks!!! v v nice.. hehe... but the best thing had to be the super big and yummy crabs...complete with the 'man tou' and a plate of Sin Chew Bee Hoon.. filling to the maximum.. hehe.. den we stood all the way back to AMK in the train..
i love Saturdays.. and the feeling of falling in love once again is coming back to me.. the days where dear was in the army and me in NIE.. how we would treasure our Saturdays together.. simple things we used to do.. movies.. dinner.. walking ard hand in hand.. hmmmm... now things are also quite the same.. but psychologically and mentally we have moved to another comfort zone in our relationship..
itz a fact that people do change as time passes. if i could choose, i would wanna change.. for the better and of cox.. to have you by my side, as we transit from one stage in life to another.. thanks for the wonderful evening my dearest..
looking forward to more quality time tomorrow.. as well as Suling's Bdae Celebrations!
FRIDAY 12th AUG 05
oh ya.. had a sumptous dinner with Prof Goh KC, Prof Vilma, Mrs Seah, Jessica, Siva, Sulaiman and James yesterday @ Bali Thai, IMM. really delicious dishes.. the company was great too.. talks on forming an Alumni surfaced, as well as International Conferences on Service Learning and Experiential Learning... after that, we headed to Boat Quay for some drinks.. James and I were reminscing abt the good old days in TTC.. friends, events, the stress and all the other happy as well as unhappy incidents which brought all of us close to one another.. ger ger couldn't join us as she was involved in her school's Parents' Day.. miss her loads...
yesterday was an unhappy day for me in the morning cox of a complain ltr which my HOD rcd from a parent.. it went smth like this:
To the Principal
From a concerned parent
I am writing this letter to you as a concerned parent of my child, who goes to Pr4B to attend his Chinese lessons. According to my son, Miss Eng has taken over Ms Tan as the chinese tcr in-charge of Pr4B since the beginning of this term. As a partner in education with your school, i check my son's work daily and i must say frankly that i am appalled by the Chinese standard of his teacher... i hope you and the MT HOD can provide this young teacher with the necessart guidance and advice as i believe that she has a great influence over my child's learning. Ms Eng'S handwriting is quite untiday and my child often tells me he has difficulty making out the storkes of the Chinese characters written by her. This is especially so when my child needs to do his corrections by following her writing. You may wish to look through her pupils' books. The following are some of her serious mistakes in marking found in my child's work:
...
...
...
... (lists 5 examples which she quoted my marking, of which 1 was a printing error in the spelling list, and another 2 which i could not find)
I hope you and your MT HOD will look seriously into this mater. i can tell from her mistakes that she may not have grapsed a very good foundation in Chinese Language as her basic strokes are often wrong. I must confess that i am not perfect at the language but at least i can safely say tat these mistakes are quite 'basic'. i hope that you will take action and i can see improvement in her marking in my child's work. Thank you.
to be honest, i was DEVASTED when i saw the ltr. though my HOD reasssured me that this parent was 'one of a kind' and a typical complainer, i felt a certain sense of injustice being done to me.. i could not find any traces of some of the examples she quoted.. and who does not make mistakes? she could have reflected them to me, but she went str8 to my P.. haiz.. frm the tone of her letter, i felt that she was hoping that i would 'get it' from 'the pple @ the top'... all the efforts which i have put in to try to improve the communications wif parents, and increase my kid's interest in the language seem to have been destroyed and gone unappreciated. itz not as if her son's grades are of anything to be boastful about, and if she really checks on him daily and 'educates' him, den he would not be failing his Chinese Spelling, and forgetting to do his homework.. Ironical!
anyway.. it was an awful morning for me yesterday.. but things brightened up after i went for my P2 class.. @ least i know that my efforts have not gone wasted.. and i must learn to accept crticisms in a positive way.. better for the parent to 'shoot' me in these little areas than on those jialatz jialatz ones.. i SWEAR i am NOT going to make life difficult for the boy (*flashes evil grin*).. and i am going to refrain from making mistakes in his work!! see how she gonna complain.. i CAN DO IT... GRRRRR...
on a happier note, itz into my 8th Week of Term III soon.. which means... semestral break is coming soon.. equating to dear's bdae! and start of Term IV! and more work! more lesson plans! Preparations for Examinations!!End of Year before you know it!
off to rest my tired eyes.. shall be back for more when i have the time!
