END OF TERM 3 WK 4
yet another week has passed.. how time flies.. me already into my 1st mth in ZPS...
school has been great. wif my kids. can feel myself bonding well with them..despite the occasional shouting and screaming @ thos little devils, discipline has been pretty smooth-sailing for me...
trying my best to keep to the adhered timeline n work schedule... my poor kids are always going home with homework.. hehe.. so they know wat to expect at the end of my lesson - delegation of homework.. hehe...
my P3 and P4 participated in the storytelling competition held in the school on Friday. P4 came in 2nd, P3 did not win antg.. but it was a great bonding session with them, though i only got to know 8 kids slightly better.. i mux refrain frm practising favouritism though i have identified some 'pet' students.. hehe... and i wanna try my best to balance the after school activities wif varied groups of students..
my P2 class is generally smart, with the exception of a few who are namely: autistic, attention-seeking, angmoh potato who has jux rtn to Singapore frm Australia in June 05 and as usual, a few talkative ones... being young, they are easier to control. jux a fierce stare or a loud shout can send them shivering @ the edge of their seats.. haha... last fri i was so angry wif a few students : Yi Xiong, Jun Fan, Xu Xuan, Qi Quan and Zheng Wei.. punished them and made them go w/o ting1 xie3 .. threatened to give them 0 marks.. aiyoh.. all cry like shit.. but it was a good warning to them as well as the whole class.. but in the end i will still let them sit for their ting1 xie3 on Monday.. hehe.. being the nice Weng Laoshi that i am.. heheheh
P3 kids are also a very well-behaved bunch.. and i tend to feel closest to them.. thinking of bringing them to the workshop on friday.. and not the P4s .. haha.. cox later the P4 will surely accuse me of practising favourtism towards the kids who can get to go for the workshop...
P4 is also an intelligent group of kids.. most no. of china kids and indonesia kids in my class.. but also many many weak ones... disciplining this class is also the toughest cox they are slightly older... so screaming and shouting and being fierce alone will not be enuff.. it helps by playing some mind games with them and getting them to do the opposite of wat u say (intentional planning) ... haha....they are kids afterall.. hehe...
the school trip to Kukup on Sat was v fun... sat in the same bus and the same lunch table wif my principal, rcd some compliments from him for being a 'good leader'... hehe.... the kids, dear dear and i also saw fruit tress, fishes and went shopping.. dear bought me a really lovely adidas top... he also got the same one.. as well as his dream shoes!!! much nicer than the pair which i saw in Taipei @ S$180.. hehe.... breakfast at the coffeeshop (fried guo tiao and kuey chap), the-not-so-nice seafood lunch and the yummy dinner @ Marrybrown on the swing was also unforgetable.. hehe...... thks dear dear for a wonderful time... 1st travel milestone of our life completed... looking forward to the year-end holidays!
dear and yan starting school tom liao.. beginning of another semester... pls work hard ok? take good care of yourselves cox me already 'descended the mountain' liao.... dear.. don bully ah yan ok? yan ... keep an 'eye' on *ahem* for me ok? heheh..... all the best to the both of you in this new semester... aim for the best and be the best ok?
i love you dear dear.. thks for everything.. muackz muackz muackz!

MOTIVATION
a simple email which made my day....
Hi Sharon,
Just a short message to share with you, Fuming seem getting more interested in the chinese subject, he would sometime take out hischinese text book to read and learn his spelling also without me chasing him.
He did mentioned that he like his new chinese teacher, she is caring and nice - "she don't scold me, which is most important".
FYI-He hate teacher scold him, if teacher were to talk to him nicely he wouldlisten and follow. Is just my son styles.
Wish you a nice weekend.
Cheers!Annette Leow

CASE STUDIES
CASE STUDY #1 - P2 boy
he is autistic. the class doesn not like him. only one boy is nice enough to hold his hands everytime the class lines up. he will refuse to do work sometimes. can be intimidated whenever i raise my voice angrily. has not resorted to hiding under table or chairs so far. loves to play games, like any other kid. chinese standard above average. but difficult to maintain concentration.
CASE STUDY #2 - P2 boy
he is an attention seeker. lovessss to get my attention by doing all kinds of stupid things such as purposely not doing his homework, talking loudly, playing and disturbing others etc. but tends to cry if i embarrass him in front of the whole class. lives wif his grandfather. refuses to talk much about his parents.
CASE STUDY #3 - P2 girl
she is from China. supposed to be @ least P4 or P5 but is in P2 due to her english standards. super tall and lanky girl, few friends in the class except for Shermaine. the local kids don like to sit near her nor play wif her.. jux found out today that her mum does massages for others to earn a living in Singapore. not sure what kind of massage it is... but one thing is that she does not have anyone to help her in her sch work cox her mum cannot speak english...
CASE STUDY # 4 - P3 Caucasian boy
he is supposed to be my student but he has not been doing his work ever since he was with the last teacher. apparently, the form tcr has been asking the boy's parents to drop Chinese.. v v disruptive boy who plays with almost everything he can lay his hands on. scissors, penknives, gloves etc.. aiyah.. have to tame him down by scolding. one weakness. he has a serious case of rashes and loves to cry...
CASE STUDY #5 - P4 girl
She is undergoing counselling in school twice a week. refuses to talk to pple, even throwing tantrums. that day, she packed her bag and threatened to walk out of my class. i stopped her, shouted at her and she wailed. like a baby. but managed to calm her down in 3 mins by asking her to do her fav activity - draw. today i confiscated her radio cox she listening it and disturbing the rest in class. in the end she cried non-stop and used a marker to draw all her books. when i finally spoke to her at the end of the day, she was alright again. v v tempermental
CASE STUDY #6 - P4 boy
a boy who has been 'notorious' since 2 yrs ago when i was @ ZPS. notorious for not doing homework, bad behaviour. however, i feel that he has tamed down a lot already.. willing to do homework.. but donnoe y his books will always go MIA one.. his mum came to the sch last fri.. spoke to me abt his missing books. asked him to see me aftr class and i spoke to him.. realised his parents divorced, staying wif an 'uncle' who is working in the army. the mum is a beer promoter. again, no one to turn to for help academically. another shocking discovery: his right eyebrows were trimmed off while he was sleeping (accd to him).. not sure if it was his drunkard 'uncle' or mother.. and i really wanna find out... haiz...
off to bed for now.. more case studies when i not sleepy...
take care yan... nightz dear...
